TouchScreen Solutions have announced that their infrared GLB screens with a production date later than February 2008 will no longer be impacted by direct sunlight.

Previously the the one signficant drawback of infrared technology was that the infrared beams would be interrupted by the direct sunlight resulting in false touches, or no response to touch.

Now that this issue has been overcome, infrared is clearly the leading touch technology on the market today.

Some of the factors that make infrared technology the leading touch technology on the market include:
  • High vandal resistance - no screen overlay to be scratched and damaged.
  • High screen clarity - no screen overlay to cause glare and light diffusion.
  • High ease of use - accepts input from fingers, gloves, hard & soft stylus etc.
  • High convenience - one off calibration with no touch point drift.
  • High reliability - no physical sensor to be abraded or worn out with heavy use over time.
